The House of Glass
Casa de Cristal (Spanish for “House of Glass”) sits on a cliff in Windcliff at 8,500 feet, with three stories of floor-to-ceiling glass across the mountain-facing side of the house. Sunrise lights up the bedrooms. Sunset turns the great room gold.
If you want a modern mountain house in Estes Park where the view is the main event, this is it. We rebuilt a 1970s cabin into something that respects the landscape instead of imitating it, and furnished it with linens from our family’s textile house, HiEnd Accents.
The glass walls rise three stories and frame the Rockies from nearly every room. You get alpenglow at sunrise in the master suite, stars from the hot tub, and the Continental Divide from the deck.
Soak in the private hot tub beneath some of the darkest skies in Colorado. At 8,500 feet with very little light pollution, you can see the Milky Way from the water on most clear nights.
Warm up after a day on the trails in the spa-quality sauna with adjoining rainfall shower. Two seating levels let you choose your intensity, and splashing water on the hot rocks creates bursts of steam for an authentic Nordic-style experience.
